Salcis

Siena, Toscana

Salcis, acronym of SocietĆ  Anonima Lavorazione Carni Insaccate Siena (Anonymous Company for the Processing of Sausage Meats), was founded in 1941 during the war period with the aim of unifying all the pork butchers of the city of Siena who, at that time, were producing Sienese and Tuscan cold cuts.

Among the founders was my grandfather Armando Morbidi, owner since 1925 of several stores in the center of town that are still open today and representative of the first generation of the family that currently owns the company. At the end of the conflict, some partners decided to continue the activity and to spread their products outside the city, and over the years in most of the country, the activity has continued with my father and now with my sisters. From some have begun to participate also my nephews who represent the fourth generation.
